PRACTISING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

These are strange and unpredictable times for all of us and you may have some uncertainty as to whether to arrange physiotherapy for yourself or your horse during the pandemic.

The current advice from ACPAT, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the British Veterinary Association is as follows:

'As of the 5th November 2020, Animal Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation may still take place where there is a clinically reasoned need to maintain function, wellbeing and prevent deterioration or disability in animals.'

In other words, if you feel your horse requires physiotherapy attention, I am still here for you and can come out to assess and treat your horse.

Social distancing still applies and we must aim to stay 2m apart at all times. This may not always be possible if, for example, your horse is nervous or needs closer handling. In this case face coverings will need to be worn. I do insist on a competent handler being present at all appointments, for both safety and legal reasons, but please bear in mind your own health and vulnerability and consider asking for assistance from a less vulnerable handler if sensible.

I always wash my hands, use hand sanitiser and clean my equipment between visits.
